HighPoint Technologies’ lineup of Thunderbolt media management solutions can speed up your workflow both on-set and in post production. The HighPoint RocketStor 5212 Thunderbolt Storage Dock is a two dock SSD and hard drive reader. The HighPoint RocketStor 6351A Thunderbolt 2 I/O Dock serves as a high-speed data connection across multiple hard drives, and the HighPoint RocketStor 6328 Dual Thunderbolt 2 Raid Adapter also serves as a high-speed data hub, but allows you to create a RAID using an external disk array. These products are now in stock, and more information is available below.
HighPoint RocketStor 5212 Thunderbolt Storage Dock
The RocketStor 5212 is a dual-bay Thunderbolt-powered storage dock that provides a great solution for transferring media from any SSD or hard drive, including media used with the Odyssey7Q+ or Atomos Shogun. The uncompromised 10 Gb/s transfer bandwidth is ideal for performance-intensive storage applications including media editing, media archiving, and high-speed external backup. A fully-certified Thunderbolt storage device, the 5212 can be used with any Thunderbolt-capable Mac or PC platform.
Additionally, the RocketStor 5212 features hot-swap support, allowing users to add or remove drives on the fly. A dedicated SATA 6 GB/s channel enables simultaneous access to both drive bays, meaning you can stream HD video from an SSD in Bay 1, while backing up your media library to another drive in bay 2.
HighPoint RocketStor 6351A Thunderbolt 2 I/O Dock
The RocketStor 6351A is a Thunderbolt-powered I/O connectivity dock that allows for high-speed data connection across multiple hard drives. HighPoint has optimized the Thunderbolt 2 to deliver dedicated performance for USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity. The compact dock is ideal for portable systems; users can manage all of their peripherals from a single device.
The 6351A features dedicated performance architecture: 20 Gb/s of transfer bandwidth enables it to fully implement HighPoint’s Dedicated Performance Architecture. Each 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 port and 6 Gb/s eSATA port is powered by dedicated controller, and delivers excellent transfer performance for external hard drives, SSD’s, disk enclosures, and drive docks.
Each 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 port can also be used as a charging station and supports Rapid Charging Modes for Apple iOS devices such as iPads, iPhones, and SuperDrives. The RocketStor 6351A intelligently manages the flow of power to avoid overcharging, and can charge devices without a Thunderbolt connection; simply leave the unit’s power cable plugged and utilize the dock as an all-purpose charging station.
Additionally, the 6531A supports 4K video displays — either Thunderbolt 2 port can be used as a dedicated video output for high resolution display devices. Each of the dedicated 5 Gb/s USB ports can host HDMI adapters for additional display devices such as LCD TVs or monitors.
The lightweight, all-aluminum chassis measures only 7″, weighs little more than two pounds, and can easily rest in the palm of your open hand. Unlike many I/O docks & adapters, each port/connector is located on a single panel for ease of access. This simple, clean design is ideal for crowded work spaces, small form-factor workstations and portable computers.
HighPoint RocketStor 6328 Dual Thunderbolt 2 Raid Adapter
The RocketStor 6328 is a flexible and scalable Thunderbolt storage solution that provides similar functionality to the 6352A, but also allows users to create a RAID using an external disk array. Users can easily fine tune SAS and eSATA storage configurations for maximum performance or capacity.
The second Mini-SAS port is capable of supporting a four-bay tower enclosure and four SAS/SATA hard drives, or can be used to add an LTO 5/6 tape drive for archiving purposes. HighPoint’s unique DVMode maintains consistent high-performance data transfer, a key component of any storage system dedicated to post-production applications.
RocketStor 6328 Thunderbolt 2 RAID Adapters are fully compliant with the Industry Serial Attached SCSI Specification, which allows them to support LTO Tape drives and SAS/SATA hard disk drives simultaneously, for Thunderbolt capable Mac platforms and Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
Hybrid storage connectivity accommodates both SAS/SATA SSD’s and hard drives, along with LTO 5/6 Tape Drive configurations across a variety of platforms. Users can utilize high-speed RAID storage for media editing then immediately archive assets to an LTO tape drive, all from a single Thunderbolt connection.
