What You’ll See From AbelCine at NAB 2014
Thursday, 13 March 2014
Every year at NAB, AbelCine brings you a selection of the very best cameras, optics, accessories and solutions that our industry offers. Here’s a preview of what we’ll be featuring in our booth #C6012.
AbelCine’s booth will feature the Arri ALEXA XT Plus, the most versatile and flexible member of the ALEXA family. The XT models offer a 4:3 Super-35 sensor for true anamorphic capability. Recording options include in-camera ARRIRAW up to 120 fps, as well as in-camera ProRes HD & 2K and DNxHD HD. We’ll also feature the latest information on the highly anticipated Arri AMIRA documentary style camera.
Since their debut a year ago, Sony has upgraded their F55 / F5 line with frequent firmware upgrades, including SLog3 / Sgamut3.Cine, 2K Raw up to 240fps, anamorphic de-squeeze, Center Scan mode for 2/3” and Super-16 lenses, False Color, Waveform, Histogram, S&Q (slow and quick) in 4K raw (up to 60fps), user LUTs and B4-lens adpaters. Sony will continue releasing upgrades to the F-series platform over the coming year with even more new features based on user feedback. We’ll have the latest on future developments at NAB.
Phantom cameras continue to be the industry standard for high-speed acquisition, and the Flex4K raises the bar once again. With 4K recording up to 1,000 fps and 2K recording up to 2,000 fps, the Flex4K is also the most production friendly Phantom camera yet. It offers a 12-bit, 10 megapixel CMOS sensor with low noise and excellent dynamic range, and supports RAW and compressed recording formats.
We’ll also be showing the revolutionary, yet affordable, Miro LC320S, which offers extreme high-speed capability and uncompromised image quality in a compact form factor. Check out how the Miro was able to hit the slopes with Olympic skier Nick Goepper and the Freefly MōVI M10 in this behind the scenes clip from Redbull.
Canon’s Cinema EOS camera lineup, consisting of the C500, C300 and C100, continue to be leaders in the large sensor video camera world. The C500 offers the flexibility of 4K, 2K or HD image capture in either PL- or EF-mount options. With outstanding image quality, it is suitable for features, VFX and 3D applications, while its little brother C300 shines for run-n-gun, indies and docs.
AbelCine continues our commitment to optical excellence. Our sales and rental departments carry a large selection of glass from Angenieux, Arri, Canon, Cooke, Fuji, Schneider, Sony and Zeiss, and the latest models from these manufactures will be at our booth, as well as a few new surprises.
We will also be presenting the full line of optical adapters co-designed by AbelCine and IB/E Optics, highlighted by two product additions: the HDx1.4 and the PLx1.4 Extender.
Our successful line of Resolution Analysis Charts, designed by our engineering team specifically for digital cinema, will also be on display. The charts provide easier and more accurate focusing, while revealing the resolution and optical characteristics of the lens/camera combination.
We will be showcasing a unique collection of camera accessories selected by our product specialists that extend the capabilities of your camera rig.
The Freefly MōVI M10 and M5 camera stabilization gimbals deliver precise, smooth camera motion and allow your camera to be part of the shot like never before. From helicopter to snowboard to jib to handheld, there are no limits to camera movement when using the Freefly MōVI system. The system can be operated in solo or multi-operator mode with remote pan and tilt.
The RED 3-Axis Lens Control System is a turnkey wireless lens control kit for driving focus, iris and zoom. Its modular design offers ultra-quiet, precise lens control capability for any setup or configuration.
The Odyssey7Q is a combination high-end monitor and recorder that’s perfect for any camera system. It offers sophisticated image analysis tools with the ability to record in a variety of formats (via optional upgrades) including Avid DNxHD (up to 120fps), uncompressed HD/2K RGB 444 (up to 60p), 2K/HD Raw, ARRIRAW (4:3 and 16:9), and Canon 4K Raw.
A highlight of our booth this year will be our Integration Services, offering live production, broadcast and communication solutions for corporations, educational institutions, houses of worship, and performance venues.
